COUPLES RETREAT 2018
Gilbertsville Farmhouse's annual Couples Retreat has become one of our most highly anticipated events in Upstate New York and this year the romantic weekend retreat will take place November 2nd-4th, 2018.
The retreat is known as the most romantic weekend of the year, and for good reason. This exclusive retreat is available once a year to only ten (10) couples and includes a unique glamping experience in our one-of-a-kind glamping village, hailed one of the best glamping experiences in the world by The Venue Report and one of the top five glamping spots in the U.S. by top travel blogger, The Points Guy.
Surrounded by the luscious landscape of the Catskill mountains and the meticulously manicured farm where it lives, Gilbertsville Farmhouse’s glamping tents are each a 320 square foot camping paradise. Spacious and beautiful, each tent is appointed with high-end plush king mattresses, luxurious bedding, plush robes, screened windows, electricity, lighting, mirrors, candles, ceiling fans and romantic wood-burning stoves. The common bathhouse is actually not common at all. Welcoming glampers with a lobby area, leather sofas, rustic lighting and double fireplaces, the bathhouse has rainshowers, private dressing areas and beautiful restrooms that put the “glam” in glamping.
If glamping on a fall weekend in upstate NY isn’t romantic enough, retreaters have options to book uber-romantic couples massages, professional photo sessions and a private, candlelit and catered four-course meal and wine pairing. Talk about private and exclusive, this dining option is available only to one couple each night of the retreat. The retreat includes continental breakfast with artisan bread baskets delivered fresh to the glamping tent doors daily and nightly campfires and s’mores. New this year will be a “campfire jam session” with a local singer and guitarist.
What to expect
When you arrive Friday afternoon, one of our staff will help you with your luggage, get you settled into your tent, and start your wood-burning stove. Enjoy your welcome snacks, mingle with other retreat guests and explore our grounds and barns. In the evening, enjoy some s'mores by the bonfire.
Saturday morning you will be greeted with coffee and an artisan bread basket. You will have an entire day ahead of you to relax or explore. Book a couples massage in your tent or surprise your partner with a professional couples photo session. Afterwards, you can take in the scenery with a walk or run on our grounds, relax or read a book with one of our cozy blankets on a hammock, get to know our chickens and goats or explore local attractions. We are a 40 minute drive to Cooperstown, a very popular tourist destination and home to Ommegang Brewery (a must!) and the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Empire House Restaurant in Gilbertsville is two minutes away as well as a Country Store. Enjoy meals there or at one of the many other local restaurants and come back to enjoy another roaring bonfire, s'mores and a campfire jam session with Amy Branham, local singer and guitarist.
Sunday morning enjoy your coffee and artisan breads again and take it all in once more - the scenery and beauty of upstate NY, the Catskill mountains and Gilbertsville Farmhouse. Although you will not want your weekend to end and we will not want you to go (we love our guests,) our staff will be ready to help you with your luggage as you tear yourself away from what was your glamping home for the weekend. Don't worry, we do this every year, so you can come back!
What's included
Your retreat experience will include a two-night stay in one of our ten glamping tents. The tents each have a high-end luxury king mattress, electricity, a ceiling fan, a wood-burning stove and firewood. Our tents are the epitome of glamorous camping and everyone who stays in one wants to come back. The stoves keep the tents extremely warm and the tent's five screened windows offer views of the surrounding fields and woods when open.
Our common bathhouse has separate mens and womens areas with restrooms and luxurious rainshowers (you will not want to get out). The bathhouse also has a lobby/lounging area with glamorous yet rustic lighting, seating areas and double fireplaces. The bathhouse has a cooler stocked with ice and water as well as a coffee maker and an assortment of coffees and teas. We provide towels and basic toiletries.
The weekend offers morning coffee and bread basket and evening bonfires and s'mores. There are other food options nearby. We will provide a list to all booked guests. There will also be additional services offered such as professional mini-photo sessions, in-tent massages, and welcome baskets. Those will be at an additional cost and will be offered to all booked guests.
